Vpred Magazine

These two first issues of the 1943 magazine "Vpred" were created by the girls of Room 28, Building L410 in Terezin. They feature stories, poems and cartoons. These types of creations were not sanctioned so authors signed their names with a secret alias.

Vedem Magazine

A literary magazine produced entirely by the boys of Room 1, Building L417 from 1942 to 1944. The boys created their own society within Home One known as the "Republic of Shkid" and documented this through prose, poetry, essays, reports and artwork.

Original 12.11.1943 1st place certificate won by George Brady in Terezin

The boy inmates of L417 had a contest for who could collect more points for having done ‘good deeds’ and George won with 215 points. He was ready to be celebrated but included in the same week’s issue was an interview with a boy who stayed with his very sick friend for numerous days and nights to help him. When asked why he didn’t collect the points for this act of kindness - he replied that he did it not for the points but because it was the right thing to do. George learned a valuable lesson about the value of winning points versus helping others.
